Problem With Raw Text Format

Greetings!

I have a number of threads that I want to go back and save from the last couple of years. I figured that the best way to do that would be to view them as text only, so I clicked the "View Thread In Raw Text Format" button in a number of them but didn't get the results I expected. A number just came up with a grey window that had "Topic Title" and "Print This Topic" in the upper left, but nothing else... others had the message:

Sorry, we were unable to locate the object requested.
Error Code: 102

Strangely, it gave the above message even though I was able to view the thread(s) with no problem in regular HTML.

Any thoughts? How can I get the archived info?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

I wonder why AMDman12GHz gets through ok.

BTW guys... I really appreciate you seeing what your results are too... thanks!

narzy,

Sadly, I hadn't thought about browsers since the one was an object not found type error. I'll try doing it from Netscape 7.02 on a Linux box and see if I get the same results.

I get the exact same result from Netscape 7.02 on Linux. 🙁

There were a couple of other things that were weird though....

On the Lin/Scape box I didn't have a Buddy List like I do on my Windows box... but I did have a large area at the bottom of the screen to type in a quick reply! On my windows box all I have is a button for a quick reply pop-up, but on Lin/Scape the box is part of the formatted page! Neat!

In addition to getting it fixed, any idea if there would be an opportunity to pay someone on the anandtech staff, who has better access to the file system than we do, to get text output of the threads that I want?

I don't think it would be hard and should only take about ten or fifteen minutes.

There is a change, but it isn't fixed yet. Now I no longer get the:

Sorry, we were unable to locate the object requested.
Error Code: 102

Error message... I just get "grey window that had "Topic Title" and "Print This Topic" in the upper left, but nothing else..." on everything... even on normal threads that are on going I get just the blank grey box.

Are there some specific internet settings I need to enable? I've tried from Windows and Linux. From IE 6SP1, Netscape 7.02, Mozilla 5 (1.2.1) and Konqueror 3.1-12 and they all end in the same result. Is there a different port required for text only or something that could have to do with my firewall? It seems unlikely since I get the same result at home, but I'm willing to try stuff.

Thanks,

Joe

Sorry, but it works here as per your thread examples up top i can view the text threads of each of your examples without any issues whatsoever. I tried both your links in mozilla and ie 6 and they both work

That may be the case, but as you can see from the rest of this thread, I'm not the only one who it doesn't work for...

Are you on the same network as the servers or are you on a distant network? Do those text windows work off anything other than simple HTML? Is there any Java or ActiveX or anything else involved that security settings on a machine could interfere with?

Hi Zuni:

When I try to see threads in raw text, I get the same problem Netopia is having. Nothing but a blank box with the thread title. Any insights?
