Problem with rampage II extreme and xeon w3540

Hi everyone, I'm from spain and this is the first time i write here so i will try to explain myself better than Ana "bottle"...
The question is that i have a rampage II extreme with an old i7 920 c0/c1 oc at 3600mhz and i can't get past this, and even now i have insane temps and vcore voltage at 1.40 .... so i had the chance to get a second hand xeon w3540 for a reasonable price, and decided to get it to oc in order to make my computer last a year and then upgrade it all. I saw a lot of people using this mobo with this xeon with no problems, but for me, when i change my i7 920 for the xeon the computer does not even boot, no sound, no beep, just powered on but nothing happens. I tried two different bios, 2101(latest) and downgraded to 2002 with no luck, even tried 2 different set of ram memmory but no changes. Am i missing something?Could someone please help me?
My computer is:
Rampage II extreme
i7 920
6gb corsair tr3x6g1600c7d
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english

Thanks a lot for your quick response, i will try with 1403 bios and I will tell you later if it worked.

No way, nothing seem to work, not even beta bios 1403 nor 1504, im starting to resign myself because there is no way of knowing what is preventing the system to boot, however when my 920 is mounted it boots without problem.

Did you get any kind of guarantee that the Xeon was any good? I really hope it's not the case, but what you're describing sounds like a dead CPU if there is absolutely no activity when you try to boot. I've followed other links, from that page I linked, and a lot of ROG guys have successfully used the 1403 Beta Bios to boot the W3540.

In fact no, but i contacted with the guy who sold it to me and accepted the return without complains. When i get the money back i will sell my rampage II / i7 920 and upgrade to i5 3570k and asrock extreme4. I think that staying on 1366 platform it's a bit overpriced, time to move on.
I appreciate a lot the help anyway, thanks a lot!
