Every once in a while my machine will lock up... or sometimes I will wake up in the morning with some XP BSOD kernel error screen. When I reboot the Intel RAID will be non-existent and I'll get the no boot device error. Hmm. Sometimes if I go into BIOS and just turn the RAID bootrom from ON to OFF and ON again and reboot it comes back. But this hasn't always worked... the last time I tried this 4 or 5 times with no luck, walked away and let it set for an hour... rebooted with no luck. I enabled the Promise controller and put the drives on it just to see if they would recognize, and they did. The drives are not the issue. So what do I have here... heat problem? Flaky controller? Faulty board? Mind you this has only happened 3 times since July... but twice in the last month. Hardware in question:

Asus P4C800E-DLX
2x 74gb SATA Raptors
