I have just purchased the new great radeon 9500pro, and tried the 3dmark03, however, when it started to do the 2nd proxycon test the frame rate in there dropped consistently between 1 to 3 fps. The previous wing of fury are fine around 50+, what is wrong?

I have winxp
Athlon Thunderbird 1gig
620rams
Asus a7v133a

It may just be too much for your T-bird... the Proxycon bit is pretty complex, lots of shader ops and what-not. I'm at 2.7 GHz (OC P4 1.8A) w/9700 Pro and it's far from glass-like; the CPU test on the Troll part is even worse.

Nothing is wrong - everyone gets low frame rates. Just check your total score with others in the FutureMark database or posted elsewhere, but realize that your t-bird is holding you back.

but 1 to 3 fps is horrible and amazingly low, and I did meet the min. requirement in term of cpu speed so it shouldnt have that low fps, and I have 620 of ram definitely helps dont you think?

Here's my rig:

AthlonXP 1800+ @ 11.5x166 = 1916 MHz
A7N8X Deluxe
512 MB Corsair TwinX PC3200
GFFX 5200 @ 310/560
80 GB Western Digital SE

I can only pull 1-8 fps in the second test too. Hell, I pulled 1-5 with my old GeForce4 Ti4200 @ 300/600.

The test is truly too much for current hardware, but will be a great test around the end of the year I believe when more advanced memory modules, faster cpus, and better motherboard chipsets. Then it should be easy for our systems to score decently.

NO!!! that frame-rate is too slow for a 9500PRO. I get 32,9 Fps with my 9700PRO in a P4@1400 and 640 SD-ram.
