so i come home today to a blank screen.

i'm running an Athlon 64 3000+ in a Shuttle XPC SK83G with an Elsa Radeon 9600 XT with 1024MB of DDR3200.

i've had this setup running for 6 months now.

i restarted and windows wouldn't load after the windows load screen. no mouse movement, no keyboard lights.

i went back into safe mode and removed the video drivers (omega's, i thikn they were the latest ones)

i rebooted (windows loaded fine with no vid drivers) and downloaded and installed catalyst 5.5's

same problem again.

i'm going to try using the catalyst 5.4's and see what happens.

anyone else have any thoughts?

*EDIT* catalyst 5.4's don't work either. seems that any ATI driver i install will make it not work. i'm posting now with no video drivers. what to do??

i'd like to avoid that if i can.

and something tells me formatting won't fix the problem.

i dunno, just a gut feeling

I had that problem with a Soyo motherboard I used to have and an ATI 9600 Pro I had, same problem. The board worked with any other video card, but not the ATI one, if you have an nvidia card around I would try it or try your ATI card on a different system to start isolating the problem.

thats the best possible thing u can do...switch this card with another system, if it works there it could be a driver problem or it could be a motherboard problem and u may require to format...if it doesnt u know the card's faulty
