Problem with Radeon 7000 & Dual displays...

I just tried installing a second display on my Radeon 7000 card, but haven't had much luck. The first monitor is a Sony CPD-520, connected to the analog out on the 7000; the second monitor is a Dell 1900FP. The displays work just fine, but in order for me to set this up how I'd like (Sony -> Display #1, Dell -> Display #2), I had to download the catalyst drivers & ATI control panel. When I do that, all of a sudden all the video becomes super choppy (scrolling webpages, dragging folders, everything appears like it's on a card w/2mb of RAM).

Any ideas what the problem might be?

This was with the latest version of the Catalyst drivers.

Edit: I just tried the Catalyst drivers without having two displays, and the same problem resulted. Maybe it's just a problem with the Catalyst 3.2 drivers.

Does your Radeon only have one EVC port (looks like a longer DVI port)? That what' one mine and I'm running LCD(via VGA)+CRT. Since its my work machine, I haven't had any reason to test serious "performance" ... but I haven't noticed any significant problems.

when i upgraded to the Cats 3.2, i had the jumpy web page scrolls, too.
"all of a sudden all the video becomes super choppy (scrolling webpages, dragging folders, everything appears like it's on a card w/2mb of RAM)." .. all that happened to me too

Radeom 7500 OEM
P3 866, 512 MBs XP Pro

so i just dropped back to 2.5 and been happy since.

anyone shed light on this?
