Problem with PPD on F@H with 2600k@4.3 ghz, half of my 950@4.0

OK, so the bigadv units disappeared, so my 2 950's@ 3.8 average do average of 11k ppd on 6993 and 6075 units. My 2600k@4.3 ghz does 3500ppd on a 7503, all A3 cores. Why is it so much slower ???

Does nobody else run a 920 or 950 and a 2600k ? And nobody has any ideas ?

No, apparently not. At least I don't run those CPUs...
I looked at the descriptions/stats for these projects and don't understand why they give different ppd.
I wish I could help.

This may be a stupid question, but as no one else has responded yet...
Does your 1155 motherboard have a setting for CPU maximum TDP? If so, have you raised it past 95W? If it does and you haven't, it might be throttling your CPU. I've heard of at least one case like that.

Well, its a ASUS P8P67deluxe (I think thats it) and CPUz says its running 4.3 ghz, and the temps are are about 54c (I have a true 120 cooler), so it should not be throttling that I know.

I don't really monitor which projects my 920 is running, but I've been averaging around 15k @ 3.6 with regular SMP for weeks. (Just checked my log file but no 7503 there.)

well, the bigadv units came back, but it has the lowest ppd of my boxes, even thought its the fastest box.

I assume you've already restarted, I find this sometimes lowers the TPF (although yours is extremely high).

Are the clients configured the same? With what we called flags the same?

Is the slow client getting bonus points?
Does it have a passkey? And do the entries match?

Is hyperthreading turned on?

That 2600 should be getting better points than the others!

Yes, everything is configured exactly the same, and HT is on. Also, now that the A5 (bigadv units) are back its doing "ok" but still less ppd than my 950@4 ghz. Also, last time I tried a bigadv on this box, it would get the "could not allocate memory" bug at 100%. I will know tomorrow.

May have to break down and put win7 on that nice hardware. 🙂 Maybe there's an update beyond XP SP1 that makes the 2600K more efficient? Who knows?

well, now its back to A5, but won't finish a units. The "cant allocate memory for xtcfile" error.

Is it completely stable? Was reading in another thread that SB has an on chip error detector which will try to catch instability before windows does, (so no crash or errors on linx) but the GFLOPS will be lower.

and it ran smp unit for a week 24/7 ? and has been running GPU units, and rendering for 6 months ? Yes, its stable.
