Problem with Plexwriter 121032A

Since yesterday I am having a problem with my plextor 121032A CDRW. I have bought the cdrw in november 2000 (so it is still in warranty).
I started the pc (DEll XPS T500) and noticed that de led of the plexwriter is flashing continuously in green. My system only goes into win98se when I open the cdtray and close it, after that the led stays flashing in a green color. The CDRW is set on master the DVD on slave, DMA is disabled on the plextor. The plextor is not able to read any cd's, the DVD is working perfectly.

I have had the plextor since november 2000 and it has never malfunctioned. No new software or hardware has been installed recently.

Does anyone have any ideas about a solution for my problem.

may sound dumb but have you tried unplugging and reattaching the ide and power cables... do the same for the dvd drive too

just a place to start

I have tried that, i even used a new ide cable, it didn't work.

So I don't believe that is has something to do with the cables.
