Problem with PCMIA NIC - NetGear FA510/410

I have an ARMNote laptop w/PIII 800 and Win 98 installed. It has a built-in modem but not Ethernet. I cannot get either of these cards to work! Is there some sort of conflict with NetGear stuff and 98? I have tried drivers from different sites. Sometimes, when trying to install it will not detect the drivers in the folder labelled "Win98" ... sometimes it will recognize "WinNT" and even "Win31"

Please help.

Thanks,

brandon

**EDIT**

I get the "Link" light on when plugged in but never the "100" light. When I try to wload "WinIPCFG" it says "Fatal Error" ... Cannot detect IP Configuration.

I tried different drivers (downloaded ones and Win98 CD ones) (This is with teh 510)

and this is 98? the only time ive ever had that happen was 95 you had to run Ws2bakup to correctly remove the winsock 2 upgrade, i've never tried it in win98, i dont even know if that folder even exists in 98, i would assume that it wouldnt... the only thing i would do is remove networking completely and reinstall fresh from your 98 disc... maybe something is corrupt
