Problem with P4C 3ghz...

So I've noticed really slow performance lately, in games and stuff, on a P4 3ghz, on an abit IC7-G. So I just ran some of the SiSoft Sandra CPU benchmarks, and my processor seems to be doing almost exactly half the number of computations it should be.

Counter-strike source, which used to run beautifully, is very jerky now.

Any ideas?

Also, since it might be related, my motherboard has never really read correct temperatures, always being 15-20C high. Recently it stopped reading temperatures at all, and just saying crazy things like 258C. I didn't think much of it, since the temperatures were never accurate.

I tried flashing the newest BIOS, even though I think I already had it. And I cleared the CMOS. The board is still reporting all kinds of weird temps in the BIOS. It says system temp is -10. And it doesn't even report a CPU temp.

So are we thinking the processor is borked... or the motherboard?

I'd try re-applying thermal compound on the CPU and bridges before assuming anything is borked.
