I can succesfully post and install and run win2k on a p4b533 mobo 1.6a@155fsb but randomly the screen will change colors with lots of vertical lines and the system freezes. what could be the problem?

i should add that i use a gainward geforce 4200 as well as a sounblaster live! value sound card and a network card... that's all i have in there.

Need more info like how many watts and what kind power supply do you have and how high do you have your voltage set.I have the same mobo and chip as you. Also are you on 1:1 ratio.Do you have the P4 12 volt power connector on your PS (4 pin sqaure plug) connected to your mobo.It could be a number of things thats causing that.

What RAM do you have? What's your mem ratio? What are your voltages? What are your temps? What's the pack date on your CPU?

First off....Make it a point to allows install theOS at default speed...NO ocing!!!! If the system is unstable albeit cpu, memory, mobo chipset, and struggling power supply....You are just looking for issues...

I say...Turn back to default speed...all normal settings in bios...Reformat and reinstall OS....then take her back up and see if you have the issues....

Corruption doesn't take much...
