Problem with outgoing e-mail using Cox

A friend has their broadband through Cox and she claims that Cox blocks outgoing mail unless it goes through their server (smtp.west.cox.net). The problem is that they put a limit on file attachments that is pretty server. Is there a way to use my mail server?

Also, she claims that Outlook doesn't seem to work for attachments but OE does work... wierd

Take a look in this forum Cox HSI. Not sure if this is related to your friend's problem, but Cox is now blocking Port 25 to help reduce e-mail spamming (which also means she won't be able to use your mail server through her Cox account if it's a non-Cox internet provider). Hope this helps.
