Hello everyone,

I have this strange problem which never occured with GigaByte, MSI, DFI etc.

The configuration is the following:
Asus P5B-Deluxe
Intel Pentium D Smithfield (2,8Ghz, 800FSB, 2x1MB cache, 90nm process)
Corsair Value memory ddr2-667 mhz
4x Hitachi DeskStar 250Gb SATA2
GigaByte GF7600GS
Creative Live 5.1

I want to OC the processor to let's say 3,4GHZ or even 3,73@266fsb. Cooling is not an issue cause t have ThermalTake S-Viking tower and ThermalTake Tower 112 Full copper tower cpu cooler.

When i raise the fsb speed, the mobo shuts down, tries to start once but shuts down again. Then it powers of again and continues to work but it puts back the stock fsb speed automatically. I noticed that the mobo does this when i raise the fsb to 210, 220, 230, 240, 250 mhz. It only works fine when fsb is set to 266mhz. Then the mobo boots fine but Windows XP Pro gives BSOD. I have the same rig at work with GigaByte GA945PL-S3 mobo with the same CPU and RAM and it works fine with every FSB setting.

I upgraded the BIOS on the P5B-Deluxe to version 1004, but doesn't help.

I think that maybe it is the memory frequency issue. I tried with PQI memory but the same happens again. I put the memory speed under 667Mhz (not to overclock it) but doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have a cure or particular bios setting to solve this problem?

Please help. Feel free to ask for more info.

Thanks
