Problem with Norton System Works

I loaded Norton System Works Professional 2001 on my computer using an AMD 350 processor and operating Windows 98 SE. I removed a second hard drive some time ago and am using the sole harddrive as a primary slave. When I attempt to use the utilities to optimize performance I get a pop up window with the message "Drive C may not be configured property. Norton speed disk cannot run on this drive. Please consult the ReadMe.TXT file for more informaton."

I've read the readme.txt file and cannot find a solution to the problem. The book for the software was no help. Suggestions?????

Thanks for responding. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try as the computer is at work. Have you ever heard of such an error message about configuring a hard drive?

Are you saying the ONLY hard drive in the system is set to Primary Slave? If so, Im surprized it runs. It needs to be set to SINGLE drive. Perhaps this is the root of the problem?

I never thought I would be able to answer anyone elses problem on this forum, but I just got done fixing the exact same problem on my P2 system. I also replaced my HD from a 8.0g to a 20.g Heres the deal. When I loaded the new HD I did not do a large disk support. So I had to go back restrart in Dos and do a fdisk remove the primary primary particitian and reformat C. Then I reloaded with the large drive support and loaded everything again and low and behold Nortons works now. Wish I would have done it right the first time. LOL
