ok now, im really getting upset!!!!!!!! heres my story, i have a msi k7n2g board it has the onboard video and stuff, i just bought a new video card by radeon, how do i get this to work? my monitor isnt reading anything when i have the card in the agp slot, i hope someone has had this problem b4 and would like to share it with me, hopefully with a fix... please give me step-by-step solution pleaseeeeee.....................
 
did u disable the onboard video in the bios? also try putting the card in a different computer to make sure its not DOA
 
Maybe a jumper on the motherboard? Although I can't imagine having a jumper to disable the onboard vga when it can easily be accomplished through the bios.

Do you have your motherboard manual? It would be listed in there for sure.
 
take out the ati card, run with the onboard. go into the bios and disable onboard. shut off computer, put in radeon. it should work. if you cannot get video with the onboard without the card installed, then somethings wrong with ur MB.
 
I haven't used that board and I'm too lazy to download the manual but you need to make certain the AGP frame buffer size is set to 0=zero.
 
My bad! there should be a disable option for frame buffer, with my SL-75MRN-L it's actually after 128mb. Also, is the primary display set to AGP?
 
I hate to ask but..You did uninstall the Nvidia drivers and change to basic VGA display before you
put the new card in right? then install the new Radeon drivers. (I know this is in the install
instructions for the video card but I just want to make sure). 😉
 
What BIOS verion are you using? 3.4 or 3.5

This is somewhat conjecture(the whole post), I believe that mobo uses the same BIOS as my k7n2-L(could be wrong). If they do use the same BIOS's, then you need to downgrade to version 3.3. Version 3.4 introduced a problem with ATI vidcards, video not initialized. Version 3.5 made the problem worse.

To get your video work, change the jumper on your mobo to "Safe Mode"(100mhz fsb). The video will then work, flash the BIOS to 3.3, Save, shut down, switch jumper from "Safe Mode".

Disregard my previous post, your mobo is different then mine.

What you can do though, is to go here AMDmb or here MSI forums and ask the guys there. You'll need to register for each, but those boards deal specifically with MSI mobos, so your chances are very good for reaching a solution.
