Problem with new PC

Just built my mom a new PC from spare parts. Started up file, no apparent problems. Gave me the IDE device readout, everything looks good. But it stopped at that. It was supposed to switch to the next page after and then say "sytem disk blah blah" but it just didn't do anything after listing the devices. What happened?

try reseting the bios. Also make sure all the hardware is properly seated.

You might have a bad piece of hardware on their.

Resetted the bios - nada. Doubleckecked the hardware, pretty sure everything is plugged in right. It wouldn't even detect the HD/CD if they weren't, right? Hmmm so what can it be? Can't be a fault HD can it? Wouldn't it not detect it then? I'm lost.

Go down to the bare min. Just leave your video card, memory, HDD & Mobo and try to boot. See if that work. As stated above, might be bad hardware.
