Problem with new(old now) sempron 3100+/VNF3-250

This all happened a while ago, and I wanted a computer that could play HL2. This all started around september.

I bought a chaintech VNF3-250 motherboard a while ago, along with a new sempron 3100+.

When I first assembled it, it worked. I played some Halo PC, and loaded Itunes...I miss not having to wait 5 minutes for itunes to load a song...

I paired this mobo/cpu with PC2100 RAM, seemed fine.

About two days after this, I installed the latest CAT drivers(CAT 4.10 at the time) for my 9800pro.

The thing didn't reboot.

It made one beep, and then just some kind of weird mechanical sound(coming from the motherboard).

I've tried so hard to get this computer to work again, I literally tried to get it running with all of my free time for about 2 weeks.

This was after I RMA'd the motherboard and CPU to zipzoomfly, and having them tell me those components worked fine.

I assumed either my RAM, PSU, Hard Drive, Video card, and even maybe my CD drives could all be at fault.

I bought a new PSU(raidmax, ha), and the same thing occured.

I'm about to try my old radeon 8500LE to see if this is possibly a graphics card problem. I'll update on that tommorrow.

I've called Chaintech, and they said it was a BIOS problem(they sent me a new BIOS chip which Iinstalled only to have the same problem occur.

I don't want to buy RAM, as it's expensive, I'm 15, and have too much stuff going on in school to get a job. I'm wondering if I should ask santa for some good RAM for halloween.

My family is lower middle class, and I christmas is usually the time I'd get money and spend it on things other than computers...I don't really want to have to get new RAM for this computer to work again.

I'll describe the problem to the best of my memory:

I turn on the computer, it instantly does it's weird beeping, and usually doesn't detect my CPU at all. Sometimes it does, and it gives me a "KEYBOARD NOT CONNECTED OR POSSIBLY DISABLED" message. Sometimes if I press F1 a lot it gets to windows, but I can't use my keyboard.

Any other questions just ask me, and I'll try to help you help me.

I'm on a 433mhz celeron righrt now that has problems doing anything more than internet explorer. Please, please help me...

It would really help us if you would post the complete system specifications.

But, based on what I know about the system, I would take a wild guess at the motherboard being at fault.

Sempron 3100+(K8 core)
Chaintech VNF3-250
512mb Infeneon(pulled from hp)
72GB something hard drive(I also pulled from my hp, japanese company started with an S)
Western Digital 40GB 5200RPM 2mb buffer hard drive(bought this when I got the Radeon 8500 I'm using in my celeron)
9800pro
Raidmax 350w PSU/250W PSU
Random CD/DVD/CD-RW drives(does it matter?)

Raidmax case?(Family thought this case would look 'cool' for my birthday....)

Also, as I said in my first post, I sent my motherboard back to zipzoomfly to get an RMA. They tested it, and said it was fine.

Now that I think about it, they could have just tested the motherboard, or the CPU individually. Could it be possible I was conned, or they do not work together?
