Problem with new Graphics Card

I recently bought the nVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 FX5500 256 MB PCI 3D Desktop Video Card Windows 7 from Amazon to install on one of my computers. It is a Dell Dimension 3000. The problem I am having is that after the computer goes through BIOS and the Windows Xp start up screen, the screen goes black. Crazy enough though, I can plug the VGA cord back into the original slot and I can see everything again. What could this be? Please help!!😵

Does the motherboard have onboard video? If so, using the onboard video, boot to the BIOS, and see if you can set the default video to be VGA or PCI, instead of the onboard. Then, reinstall the vid card, and reboot.

Hope that helps. 🙂
