Problem with new graphic card

I have a new X800XL and running it in WoW with 1280*1024 with no problem. Yesterday i change the resolution to 1600*1200 and after about 30 running the game, the ATI Catalyst would report an error. The game still run fine for a little bit then it become heavy artifact on the screen, I restart the computer and it become fine. Is it a video card problem ? and if it is how is the RMA for gigabyte video card?

System specs : AMD 3000+, epox nforce 4 ultra, 1gig ocz value ram and 380 w seasonic psu.
Didnt overclock anything because i am a newb and the temp is 33 / 34 C while running the game. I used to have the 6600gt on a 7 months old gig that run the same set up in WoW fine. So i really clueless right now. thanks for any suggestions.

Is it ONLY with WoW that you cant go to 1600x1200, if its just WoW and all other games work fine...then its a problem with WoW, not the card, norhing you can do about it other than reinstall the game or try to download all the drivers you can find.

Also are you running catalyst 5.8? If so, try other catalysts and see if that helps.

I am running catalyst 5.8 . As i said above, nvidia was able to run it in 1600*1200 with the 6600gt and i belive the x800xl is much better than the 6600gt. this is why i think my video card could have a prob 🙁

Test other games before making that conclusion.

use the ati tool and bring up the cube and watch the temp, it sounds like a heat prob, set your fan speeds to 100 per cent at 58 deg.
