I have tried to reinstall windows, after i had to replace motherboard on another computer i have, and it freezes while it is clearing the drive, is there anyway i can put that on my computer, and clear hard drive safely without contaminating my computer, is there a program that can do that??

Also, can i just hook up the hard drive to my computer with no worries or do i have to do it a certain way?

Thank you for the time,

i don't get what you're trying to do. you have a harddrive that won't format correctly when you try and install windows? you want to put that drive that doesn't format into a working computer and format it that way? if that's the case, go right ahead. as long as it isn't the primary drive, it'll just be recognized as just another harddrive in windows. just go into disk management and format the sucker. i usually just put a drive in like a usb/firewire enclosure so i don't have to start mounting drives, pulling cables, blah blah blah when i need to do something like that. makes your job much easier.

You might start the computer with a Linux Live CD - like any from this list

Linux Live CD

Then, you can partition and format the drive any way you like. Not as straightforward than with the Computer Management) but still possible. (the program you want is fdisk. There are other too, but are a bit more distribution-specific)
