just got a new buslink 48/12/48 cd-rw drive. the model is rw4848. the problem is whenever i try to burn a cd, the buffered reader will stay at a steady 94-97% but towards the middle of burning process, the buffered reader will drop to around 7% and went back up to 97% and drop again. this goes on again and again like crazy which eventually the burn process failed. i have no such problem with previous cd-rw drive. i'm using nero to burn and tried uninstalling but problem still persist. wats is wrong here?

Ok I'm guessing the drive is probably based on a Lite-On and I've been seeing similar problems with this using older versions of Nero. Make sure you have the newest version installed and that DMA is enabled in windows. Updating the version of Nero has generally seemed to make the problem go away.

now the burning process complete at 100% but while nero is doing the lead in lead out, it failed! nero says mechanism control task error, could not perform fixation, session fixation error. wat does that mean?

Ok thats one I haven't come across. You might want to try calling the tech support for the company that manufactors the drive. It is possible that the drives bad in some way but like I said I haven't encountered that message so I really dont know.
