Problem with new build--no PS/2 mouse

This is my first build. Seems to be working OK in general, but the PS/2 mouse isn't recognized at all. I did try a USB mouse and that worked.

System:

Biostar Tforce 6100-939 mobo
Athlon 64 3200+
Corsair Value Select 2 x 512 MB DDR400 CAS 2.5
Maxtor Diamondmax Plus9 160 GB ATA/133
LG CDRW drive
Sparkle FSP300-60THA

Any ideas? Thanks.

OK, this was a bizarre one. The computer didn't like the keyboard (understandable, since it was a weird keyboard salvaged from an old Compaq and it had a credit card reader). But the keyboard worked fine; it was just the mouse that didn't work. After serveral reboots, I got a message that Windows had found new hardware: a USB Visa card reader. Windows was unable to install that new hardware, which made me wonder whether the keyboard was causing the problem. Indeed, once I replaced it with a regular keyboard, the mouse worked fine.
