Problem with new 21inch CRT monitor

Hey guys I just got a refurbished dell 21 inch flat CRT monitor. But it seems that the text and icons I see are kind of blurry. Is this just the nature of a 21 incher, or is my monitor defective?

Have you played with the manual controls, and your video card's control panel, to see if you can sharpen it up? I've heard that Dell's 21" CRT refurbs don't have the best track record, but a few people get lucky. Sorry you're having problems, and don't be squeamish about taking advantage of the return/exchange policy if you can't get a sharper image out of it. IBM's Trinitron refurbs supposedly have better quality and I'm considering picking up one of their 21-inchers from Azatek.com. IBM is really good about exchanging refurbs if you have a problem. I've had both the refurb dell and IBM 21" monitors.
Try turning down the contrast/brightness. I had to get my P1110 brightness down to 8-10 before it would start sharpening up.

I'm currently using the IBM P275, which has the same problem. I have to turn it down to about the same brightness levels before it would sharpen up, except this monitor would only get blurry on the right side of the monitor.

I'd say this is the nature of all trinitron monitors.
