Hey people, just got my new computer and my new wireless router... everything is running great, I could share the internet with both comps I have. The only problem is that I can't seem to be able to share my files between both my computers. So that you get an idea of how my network works exactly, the wireless router and access point is connected to my DSL modem... one of my comps is connected to the router and the other one is wireless...
I already tried some things like right clicking on my hard drive and on sharing ... but it doesnt work...
Another thing, one of my comps is running Win2k while the other one is running winXP. The one running 2000 is actually able to see the other one in network neighbourhood, but every time I try to go in it, it just freezes. The computer running XP isn't even able to see the other computer.
I just find it weird that im able to share the internet, but not some files.
Any help would be appreciated...
thx
Justin

PS : I have the Linksys Wireless Router (the 11mbps one) and as you can see, im very new to this ...

Well, first make sure you have both computers in the same workgroup (exact same name).

So that you get an idea of how my network works exactly, the wireless router and access point is connected to my DSL modem... one of my comps is connected to the router and the other one is wireless...

What isn't working? You can't share the folders, or you CAN share them, but the other computer can't see them? If you can't share the files, you need to make sure that both computers have "file and print sharing" enabled (under network properties). Once you have the file and print sharing option, you should be able to then share folders by right clicking the folders and choosing "sharing".

Another thing, one of my comps is running Win2k while the other one is running winXP. The one running 2000 is actually able to see the other one in network neighbourhood, but every time I try to go in it, it just freezes. The computer running XP isn't even able to see the other computer.

Again, make sure your workgroup is the same for both computers.....do you have a firewall on either computer active?

I just find it weird that im able to share the internet, but not some files.

No, this is the default, normal setup.

Unless you set up "rules" on your firewall to allow either certain ips access to your computer (best way) or allow certain ports access (less secure) your firewall will probably block sharing as well. Disable any firewalls while testing this stuff out....once you have it working, enable it again and get it to work with the firewall you have.

yeah xp's built in firewall blocks LAN file sharing for some idiotic reason.
