So, i just got this new g router. It's a netgear just like the one i had before, so i didn't figure i would have any problem with it. All was well for the first week, then my desktop stoped getting internet. I reset it a few times, messed with it again, changed the network cable, and it started working again.

Now i've been having a problem with getting both my wireless laptop and my desktop working at the same time. Both have the same problem so it must be the router. When i unplug the network cable from my desktop, reset the router, and let the wireless load up my laptop gets internet, but the desktop can only see the network. The same thing happens when i just reset it and leave the desktop pluged into it.

This is very weird, and i really don't want to have to send it back that would be a real paine.

Any help apreciated.

Have you tried setting the router to a different channel? Also, did you install any firewall software?

well i messed with a lot of settings, most of wich i had no idea what i was doing, but somehow some way it worked. But then my network wouldn't so how, argh!

So i reset the router to defalts, which wasn't the problem. My virus scan had a firewall in it (newely installed virus scan). So now i'm back to the origonal problem only one computer gets internet.

Any help.

Nothing is wrong with the wireless settings, cuz i can get the laptop to have internet, i just cant get the desktop to have internet at the same time
