I called customer support and they said it will cost $102 to repair if I want to send it in. So now I am trying to determine whether I should dish out the money or just toss the zen touch and buy a completely new player like the Zen Vision: M or some other nifty mp3 player. One thing I am worried about is the headphone plug problem that is supposedly common among the Zen Touch. I do not want to spend $100 to fix it only for it to stop working shortly after. What are your opinions?

It turns off and on normally and from what I can tell all the buttons are still working (I can hear the touchpad clicking as it should). The problem is that the screen is all warped and filled with colors and therefore I can't see what I'm doing. I haven't been able to get it to play any songs. I'm not sure if this is because it is just outright broken or because I can't navigate to a song properly because of the broken screen. So my question is...what are my options? I've had it for about a year so I'm pretty sure it is out of warranty. I've also tried resetting it via the hole in the back to no avail. Is there anything I can do besides just throwing it out? I would hate to waste the HDD since I am pretty sure it is still fully functional. Lastly, should I just buy a new zen touch or is there better stuff out by now?

I'm pretty sure your mp3 player is completely broken, and its likely not worth sending it in for $ to get it fixed. I'd take this as an excuse to get the above that i mentioned.

yikes...that vision M is pretty pricey..I think I'll see how much this will cost to get fixed first...like I said I'm pretty sure the hard drive is still alive and well...isn't that the most expensive component?
