Problem with my WRT54G...Please help

I just installed my new LinkSys WRT54G v3.0 with all computers in the house hooked up to the back (wired) of the router.

1. I changed the router's addr to 192.168.3.1
2. Upgraded to the lastest official firmware.
3. Everything works for a couple of days.

Then, last night, all of the computers can't connect to the internet or the router. I tried to ping the Router (192.168.3.1) and only get a respone back intermittanly. This same thing happens if I try to ping anything outside (google, msn, etc...). But all of the computers that are on the LAN can ping each other with no difficulty. Please help. Thanks

1. Disable any firewall on your PC...any recent upgrades?
2. I liked phatrabt's suggestion to reset your router to the factory settings. If you do that, check your manual, get the router's original IP address so you can connect to it again.
3. If PING is not consistent, check connection to your router.

Thanks for the replies. Here's the situation, I just switched the old linksys wired router with the WRT54G. I turned off everything (router and cable model) for >1 hour. Then I turn it back on and everything started to work correctly. Then just now (aprox. a day later) I have problem with pinging the router/connecting to the internet again (I am still able to talk to other computers on the LAN). I unplug the router then re-plug it back in and everything started to work again. This is very frustrating as I don't know where to start.

The common elements in both of those scenarios are:
1) your ISP
2) your modem

I would bet the modem has gone south on you.

I tried everything JackMDS mentioned, but no dice. Everything worked fine with the old router. Could the modem went south because I switch the old router for a new one? Could the new one by defected?

OK, let's go back. You mean that you plugged the old router in for a while, and switched back to the new one?

Sorry for not responding...Out last weekend.

The old router was working and never have any problem. I just switch the old one for the new one (I haven't switch it back to see if it's the WRT54g is the problem yet).
