I Installed XP pro 2 days ago. All went fine. But when I went to rip a dvd with DVD Decrypter it freezes. It also freezes when I use media player and dvd2avi. What can the problem be? I know it could be a lot of things. Any Ideas?

I already changed my memory. and updated all the drivers. I reformated 2 times.

1.3 AMD
ABIT Kt7A-Raid
Radoen LE
Soundblaster live 5.1
768 sdram
2 40 gig Ibm's
2 60 gig Seagates
Pioneer DVD -R/-RW

How big is your power supply?

It may not be getting enough power. If you don't have a bigger one, you could borrow a small one from another computer to power the CD/DVD drives separately and leave the rest to your present power supply.

(Edit: For testing purposes only. That would not be very glamorous.)

Good luck.

Also one thought, is it locking up only when trying to do something that involves DVD tasks. If so perhaps there is a problem with your DVD drive. Do you use a decoder card? Or perhaps a resource issue, its like when a program tries to use DVD resources an address or IRQ or some sort of memory thing is getting in the way and making program go awry. Just some thoughts, if it isn't your PS.

I will try using a bigger power supply it is 350 right now.

I bought a nother dvd drive to test it out. but it still freezes. It freezes when I look at mpgs that are on my harddrive.
