Hi everyone,
I put together a super budget system a few months ago. It wasn't meant to be a gaming system, however, I found that it barely outperformed my old 1.4 GHz Athlon / GeForce 2 MX in certain games.
The specs:
Celeron 341 D (yeah I know....)
Intel D101GGC mobo
2GB DDR2
EVGA GeForce 6800
I can barely play Battlefield 2. Oblivian is out of the question (as is BF 2142) on the absolute lowest settings possible. HL 2 played ok on low: but it's a 2 year old game! Everquest 2 was too choppy to enjoy as well, even though it was smooth on my 2 year old Dell laptop W/ unsupported Mobility Radeon 9200.
Anyway, now I'm interested in playing the newer games and was wondering if a C2D 6400 would be a wise upgrade?
Or is there seriously something wrong with my system and I should at least be able to play some of those above games smoothly on low settings? I'm not asking for 1600x1200@4xAA, I just want to fight on a BF2142 Titan map without 5 fps!
Thanks
