problem with my liteon burner...

i recently tried to burn an audio cd and it took nearly 10 minutes with my 16x liteon burner. it usually takes 4 or 5 minutes, and i'm sure i had nero set to 16x burn, and burnproof was automatically enabled i believe. what's weird is that the buffer kept on fluxtuating, from 100 to 30 and random numbers in between. before, it would stay still at 98-99%. also, it took up all the resources and i couldn't do anything else with my comp, about 99% cpu resources according to the task manager in xp. anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

Do you have DMA enabled?

pretty sure i do......have all my IDE channels set to "dma if available"
