Problem with my laptops LCD screen, only 2/3 works!

So I received a Toshiba laptop for my high school graduation 2 years ago. Well 1 associates degree later, 1/3 of my LCD screen decides to stop working. I've built many computers, but I haven't tinkered with laptops too much or the insides of LCD screens. I'm attaching a few pictures so you can see the issue. Basically it blurs the bottom 1/3. Once and awhile if I tap the back of the screen it will refresh the bottom, but instantly blur and freeze that portion again. Any help would be great appreciated!

Thanks.

First check to see if the video card is seated/connected properly. I think if you don't have a bad connection you probably need a new LCD.

Ok, I'll check that. In the meantime, does anyone else have any ideas or anything specific to a Toshiba Satillite notebook?

It's probably a bad connection between the LCD controller board and the LCD screen itself. This explains why it works momentarily when you tab the screen. You have three options:
1) If you have money, buy a new laptop and use this laptop as an extra desktop because new laptops don't cost much these days.
2) Buy a new screen. This option assumes that the new screen doesn't cost as much when compare to a brand new laptop(option 1).
3) Take the screen apart and press down on the connectors in hope that it will cure the bad connections.

Good Luck!

Try removing the display (usually held on by some screws on the back, or sometimes you must remove the kb) and reseat the connection to the main board. Short of that you have a bad connection somewhere inside the panel. You could try opening and checking to see if its something simple, but like posted above, turning it into a desktop may be a better idea
