Help please,

Here is my machine....Athon 64 2800+ W/ Chaintech SK8T800 MB
Chipset VIA K8T800 + VT8237. BFG Nvidia 6800 video card 128 MB ram.
Motherboard and processor less the year old. Updated drivers for video card. Had two sticks crucial 2100 ddr ram but wanted to upgrade. Heard mushkin good product and price was good also.

Ok here is my problem. Tried both pieces ram one at a time and they seem to work fine. When I install both pieces machine becomes unstable.
Programs lock up, monitor flickers. Please help and thank you for your time.

I have a 350 watt PSU. Don't know if its a voltage problem and can't raise ddr voltage that I can find where to do it at thought it would be in here.

Anyway here is a list of the options in my (Frequency/Voltage Control)
1. Auto Detect PCI CLK----Enabled...Only can Enable or Disable
2. Spread Spectrum-----Disabled...Disable or other options are +/-.20%,+/-.25%,etc etc.
3. CPU Clock------200 MHZ Can raise cpu clock from 200 to max of 233.
Don't see anything in there for raising ddr voltage.

Going to run memtest to double check both pieces ram but like I mentioned at top tried both 1 at a time and seemed to work ok.

Any thoughts and thank you for your time.

Terry

Got a few thoughts.

I actually, just this week, had a problem with some newly purchased Mushkin RAM. I posted on a few websites, and could have saved my fingers if I had just posted on Mushkin's website.

First memtest each stick individually, then see if you can run memtest with both sticks.

Go to www.mushkin.com, click on the support button, then click on the Support Forum link. Post your problem, and your errors (if any) from memtest. Heck, I'd even just post the initial problem, and follow up that post with your error log.

A guy by the name of ian, the site admin, will probably help you, *shrug*. He responded to me on 4 different occassions in less than 24 hours. Ended up getting an RMA because the error was occurring in the same spot on every test, no matter what the RAM timing.

Couldn't have been more helpful or easier. Great Customer Service.

Later gator

I'm still working with Mushkin but maybe someone on here have a little insight to what might be some help.
I just bought a Antec True430 430 watt PS. I was told maybe not getting enough voltage to ram. My old PS was a SL350 and was working great. I change ram from 2 sticks crucial 2100 ddr to mushkin 3200 ddr blue dual pack. Since then I can only get comp. to work with one stick new ram becomes very unstable when I try and use both new 3200 sticks. Put old ram in 2 stick 2100 and it works fine.

I think chaintechs support stinks. E-mailed four times and not one response.

Anyone have and input?

Thanks Terry
