Problem with MSI Z77A-G45

Hey everyone,

I built this computer about 2 weeks ago and It runs like a dream (most of the time). I started running into issues with the computer turning itself off and then refusing to Post when I rebooted the system. Sometimes, I would have to try to power it on atleast 10 times to get it to activate the video. When it finally runs, everything and fine and I can use it for hours.

Also, More often than not..when the computer randomly shuts off, it comes back on by itself and will sometimes go into a shutoff-boot.. type thing.

I've tried to narrow it down. First, I discovered that my H80 was hooked up wrong, I fixed it. Then I saw a standoff that didnt have a screw in it...fixed that.

Now, Im just trying to figure out what this issue continues to happen. What could this mean? My GPU is fine, so is my mem and CPU. Is it my PSU or the Mobo? For the record, my computer has been running for about 4 days with no issue. I tried to play Dead Island after spending a day on DayZ and the computer just shut off and restarted itself when I loaded into the game's menu. I am running RealTemp and MSI Afterburner, my CPU is nowhere near the danger zone.

Thanks!

There could be a conflict between the discrete GPU and IGP based upon a setting in BIOS. It happened to mine where I would only get a blank screen when my DVI cable is attached to my discrete GPU and not the IGP which I think is detected as the default display output from BIOS. I think I disabled the IGP in BIOS and there are no issues afterwards.

Another possibility is that there are some issues with the SSD/HDD not reading properly and causing BSODs. Display drivers could be a possible culprit too.

There has been no BSODs and Drivers are Up to date.

The computer seems to just shut off when I am playing games. The setup is powerful enough to run anything and I've been checking my temps. I think the IGP is already disabled, but I will check.

This is such a weird phenomenon.

Having the latest drivers may not mean that it is stable. I've had trouble in the past where games wouldn't run properly like it did before updating. A picture showing the internals would make it easier to see if there is any other problems. Are you somehow overloading the power outlet by daisy chaining multiple electrical devices?
