Problem with MSI 845 altra aru RAID

When I install my two new,(no OS loaded yet), Maxtor 40 GB ata133 HD's into IDE 3 & 4, and bring up the fastbuild utility "main menu" screen, and choose option # 1 for auto setup, I get a flashing message saying something like "no drives available". Am I missing something here?
