Problem with MPEG video playback

Hi there,

I've recently noticed a problem playing some MPEG videos on my computer. Some files will play fine while some will pause often for several seconds before playing again (both video and sound pause). This happens in both Windows Media Player and BSPlayer. I've been trying to figure out how to identify what codec the files that are giving me problems are using with BSPlayer but I can't seem to find the option.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this? Thanks.

Using Windows XP SP1 if it makes a difference, I've downloaded DivX, XVid and I think Intel Indeo codecs in addition to the ones supplied with Windows Media Player 9.
