Hey everyone,
I have the current base system setup:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
ASUS a7n8x deluxe rev. 2
OWC 2x512, crucial value select and OCZ Value.
i tried to step the processor to 166mhz and 12x multiplier and the system freaked.
The motherboard no longer beeps if I remove it and turn the system on. But it does notice when the CPU is removed. The CPU also still works. I have a a7n8x-e deluxe in another computer which I tested it in. And the CPU from that computer(AMD Athlon XP 3200+) does not run on the system I just messed up, so something is wrong.
I've tried resetting the CMOS. I removed the battery on the board and switched the relevant jumper, which I believed was supposed to reset CMOS. However, there has been absolutely no change to my situation and I'm coming to you good folks at Anandtech to see if you have any recommendations for things to try.
I have a feeling part of the motherboard died because of the lack of beeps when the RAM is not plugged in, but I just want to try any possibilities before I have to go grab another board somewhere.
If anyone has any advice, or no-fail ways to reset CMOS, i'd definitely like to know of them.
Thanks,
~Ryan
