Problem with monitor (wavy lines & distorted image)

Hi, recently I got a samsung BW226 and it works perfectly, however there is one perticular case that I can't figure out.

The natural res of the monitor is 1650*1080. When I am on the desktop this res works fine and I have 0 problems. However when i enter to play games (ffxi for example) the monitor starts going wavy (hard to describe, the image is distorted minimally by what appears to be like endless waves vibrating across the screen), the picture is still 90% visible but the waves are really strainful on the eyes and make playing a pain.

From what i've seen, the lowest res below this one is 1600*1024 and this res works fine for both desktop & gaming (no wavy BS & perfect picture), however since this res isn't the natural res of the monitor is makes the desktop text and menu texts for browsers, menus etc somewhat blurry. For now this is the res I use when I game so that I don't get the wavy lines, when I change to desktop only/web browsing I change back to 1650*1080 and when the change from 1600 > 1650 occurrs the wavy lines appear for about 2-3 mins & then my monitors blacks out and comes back with the picture clear (this only happens on desktop, during ingame the wavy lines never fix themselves).

To summarize: 1650 works fine for everything except games, 1600 is what I must use to play games properly. It's really a pain because some games I like to play windowed to browse the internet and since i'm in 1600 the text is messed up.

Does anyone know why this problem might be occuring?

Might be that your refresh rate for that resolution is not compatible with your Monitor, or you may need to do an Internet search for a newer video driver (actually Monitor driver), or the game just might not be able to support that particular resolution.

I'd probably try to find a newer Monitor driver first, they may have addressed this issue in an update.
