Problem with mail on i5s

iPhone 5s, running 9.3.2

Since the last update, I've been having terrible problems with my mail... download hangs, message counter showing messages that aren't there, deleted messages that don't go to the delete file, double- triple- etc downloads of the same message (i.e. delete messages, they redown load at the next push.)

It's almost unworkable at this point.... Anyone else having problems like this? Anyone know how to solve it? I'm not very Apple savvy...

What is Mail.app connecting to? Gmail account, exchange account?

I don't have any recommendations, but more information will be useful for the other, smarter people.

I've had weirdness with our Exchange server since forever. iOS 9.x made it worse, but it'll be cleared up for another couple weeks if I reboot the phone.

Anyone? Even the last update(s) haven't improved it...

Question: Is there actually a better mail app I can use in lieu of the iPhone Mail app?

Spark is brilliant, you can turn this feature off & have a standard inbox. It has so many great features, it's the email app I've been waiting for.

I trust you've rebooted a few times already? Also, I've had weird problems fixed before by resetting the network settings, although I don't know if that would apply here.

Another way things get fixed is to delete the account off the phone and then re-load the account.

And then there's the problem of the mail provider. Sometimes they just have problems with iDevices or else have problems in general. Yahoo (IMAP) last year was a disaster for some people, for example.

It actually worked pretty much flawless until about APR or MAY... since then it's been a royal pain. I have rebooted quite a few times. I guess I can try to delete the accounts and set them all back up... worth a try.

I've been using Outlook app for the past 6-8 months and it has worked pretty decent. The really good app I used went out of commission... only thing Outlook app misses that the old one had was mass archive. Other than that, Outlook is actually pretty good!

Actually, deleting the accounts and reloading them seems to have done the trick. It did set up as IMAP (as opposed to POP3) so maybe my old configuration was the problem.

I never even thought about Outlook for the phone... interesting. I've always liked Outlook (actually, Outlook Express until they DX'ed it...) but switched to Thunderbird recently because MS shut me off when I tried to reload an older version of Outlook on the PC. If Mail crashes and burns again, I'll have to give it a try....
