Problem with Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel..Need to return it?

I just got a logitech optical Mouseman Wheel. I plugged it in to the USB port, and it was sweet. I really liked it. However, after a while, the red "light" within started to flicker, and just went out entirely. When I rebooted, it came back for a while, but the same thing happens. It looks like the laser (or whatever that red light is) is just broken. When the light goes out completely, I obviously use the mouse anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried it in both my USB ports, and also in the PS/2 port, and the same thing happens. I have also tried the logitech drivers, as well as the default windows drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
when the light fizzles out, can you still use the mouse as normal? If not, bring the thing back and get it exchanged, it shoulndt be fadding out like that in the first place.
 
I'd return it and get another. Mine worked flawlessly from the word go. I plugged it into a usb port and was using it in 10 secs. Beautiful mouse, pity about your problem.
 
I guess i am just really unlucky. I returned it, got a new one, and it is working so beautifully. I like it a lot. How do I find always find the one in a hundred that won't work? Who knows. Thanks...
