problem with Linux starting RC5

it's the oddest thing..

I think it started before I installed KDE 2.11 so I don't think that's the problem. I have the command in the rc.local (located in /etc/rc.d/) to start up, as well as a command for my modem to be set up, neither works??

there's a log file I can take a look at for errors on startup right?

well lets see..

everything appears ok, except my floppy disk (which doesn't work, but I leave it there anyway).

everything else appears normal.. I don't even see any mention of the rc.config file, let along RC5.

could it have something to do with the floppy drive? I doubt it, cause it was running before just fine.

I think the problem occurred when I tried to add the option -a proxy.teamanandtech.com, but I don't think that would cause the problem.

it might actually, spaces and such either try double quoting the whole thing or just add proxy.teamanandtech.com to your ini file ( this would seem the better option to me )

what would that do?

it's the oddest thing, I don't think I edited the file at all, and all the sudden, it just doesn't appear to read those last two commands. so even putting the proxy.teamanandtech.com thing in the .ini file doesn't help too much, becuase I still have to start RC5 manually.

thanks for the help though!

I think I might have PARTLY figured the problem out..

it's a long shot, but it's the only thing I have..

when I tried to insert the -a proxy.teamanandtech.com into my already long command, it automatically did a wordwrap on me, which I wasn't sure if I wanted it to do, so I extended it somehow (I maximized the window I think, so now I can go ABOVE 80 charecters, which I think was the limit before). whenever I type that command in now, it doesn't word wrap, and goes PAST 80 charecters.

could this be the problem??

heh, forgot to ask, seeing as I don't know the exact # of charecters, nor if anything else in the rc.local file was changed, can I get a copy of that file from someone using Mandrake 7.2? That way I'll know the format is good, and if that doesn't fix the problem, I don't know what will!

or perhaps you could post your rc.local configuration on here, so I can compare it to mine?
