The network adapter is a Type II CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet card. This card works fine in my 1 year old Dell laptop. When I plug it into a Toshiba Tecra laptop running Windows 98 SE (about 5 years old), the computer does not recognize the card at all. I know that the slot is okay because I have an older 3COM network card that is recognized immediately and drivers installed when I plug that card into the Tecra. Problem is, either the dongle cable or the card itself has a problem and will not work. I gues my question is, will some newer Type II network cards not work in older laptops due to some change in standards?
