Problem with laptop internet

Internet on school campus sucks because you have to abide by their "use this software that messes up your computer more than windows updates do" rules. I have an SMC8035TX PCMCIA card going into my laptop and I'm trying to connect to the internet. I had windows 2000 and I was getting a dns error. The Card was recognized, it just couldnt get from the card to the server. Then I said the heck with it and put lindows 4.5 on the laptop (which didnt need any drivers at all might i add) and am still getting a dns error. The laptop is a Toshiba 2540CDS, 333 mhz, 96 ram, no built in ethernet but built in modem (What i'm using sparingly for business needs), with Lindows 4.5.

You can experiment and fight with the connection (and might even get it figured out) but if you are having trouble with a proprietary connection software that the school requires, I would highly recommend that you call the school's network admins to let them know the problem and get it fixed.
