Problem with laptop and external display

Hey guys, i'm having a problem with my older compaq armada 7800 laptop. The LCD is broken and I removed it from the laptop.

Today it started to turn off my external monitor after about 1 minute of idle. I checked the power settings and everything is okay there. I believe this just started happening today (worked fine yesterday and before). Basically, if i move the built in mouse on the laptop it turns the display back on (if i use the touchscreen to try and get the display back on it won't work).

Any ideas what could be wrong? I have this laptop in my car connected to an in dash touchscreen.. so it's kind of annoying having the screen go out on me so often.
 
i tried the laptop with another monitor, this one was a crt.. it did the same thing.

it feels like it would be a problem with the power management in control panel but everything seems to be configured properly 😕
 
well just like the problem began for no reason, it has ended for no reason... didnt even do anything to try and fix itand now it works like normal 🙂 😕
