Hi there.I have a very big problem and need help🙁I have one desktop and one laptop pc.I connected them via ethernet cable. Then over LAN proporties I adjusted the ip addresses to the recommended vaLues.Everything is in order up to this point.I can easily look into the files of laptop and can copy them to desktop. But when I try to connect to the desktop and take files from it,it says:"You don't have permission..."Thus ,I can't copy files from desktop. So I need your helps. Please help me🙁

This isn't a LAN problem, it's a "server" OS issue. You don't have the permissions set on the desktop to allow any other device to connect to it. First guess is the Windows XP Firewall. Next is the share permissions on the desktop (do you have file sharing turned on?)

Well,I guess its not a firewall problem as i've closed xp firewalls on both pcs.As for the file sharing thing if you mean shared docs yes,it's turned on otherwise i dont know.

Can you see the sharepoint?

CLI on the lpatop:
net view \\desktopname

Should return a list of shares open on the desktop.

try running the "set up a home or small office network" wizard. everytime i have a weird issue like that i just run it and works again.
