my system specs are:
amd 1ghz t-bird @ 1ghz
256 mb pc-133
abit kt7-raid mobo
soundblaster live platinum
hercules 64 mb geforce 2
Western digital 30gig ata 100 hard drive

My problem is that my brother changed the multiplier setting to 7.5 and the fsb to 133 thinking that it would make the ram go at 133 mhz. My system of course crashed. My monitor will not turn on when i start up my computer, I have to turn on the monitor first then power up. Also when I boot up there is a message after the memory is detected saying that it is detecting the IDE devices. It will hang for a while then eventually boot. How can i fix it? Also when I go into soft screen in the bios the processor is read at 500mhz but everywhere else it says it is a 1000mhz. I try to change it but the monitor will not turn back on after I save the changes in the bios. How would I fix that?

Go into bios and change your multiplier settings to 10x. You can also try to clear CMOS.


7.5 x 133 doesn't make the memory run at 133mhz, it makes the FSB (CPU bus speed) run at 133mhz!


To make the ram run at 133mhz you have to change the memory setting from HOST CLK to HOST CLK + PCI CLK

Had the same problem (more or less). There's a jumper on the board that's used for resetting the CMOS to default settings (I think it disconnects the battery or something). Can't remember excactly where it is, but you should be able to locate it yourself.

Solved my problem.
 
Nipni is correct. Look in your KT7-R manual for the CMOS reset jumper. A little 10-second jumper switch will get you do wonders. I should know - I've got a TB 900 that OCs well on the FSB/PCI clock but does not like mulitplier changes. Bottom line, I've had to reset the CMOS jumper several times, each time seemingly bringing me back magically to stability.
 
Or you can boot into the BIOS and load the "Fail Safe" settings. But clearing the CMOS is probably the wisest course of action.
