Problem with Klipsch 4.1 system

First of all, these are the first-generation Klipsch speakers that I purchased in May 2000. I noticed yesterday that the front left speaker was not working. I'm not sure when the problem first started, but it couldn't have been more than two weeks ago. The first thing I did was to isolate the problem, since it could be the speaker, the wire, or the amp. I narrowed it down to the amp.

I moved the wire from the front left speaker to a different amp connection, and it worked fine. I plugged the wire from one of the other speakers that were working fine into the connection for the front left speaker, and it didn't work either. The speaker does produce a little bit of sound, but it's garbled and about 1-2% as loud as it should be.

I made sure that the connection was really solid; I probably reseated it 5 times, just to make sure. If anyone has an idea of something to try or if you think that I'm out of luck, then please chime in.

Thanks

Wow, this actually happened to me a few weeks ago. Exact same speakers - first generation Klipsch Promedia 4.1s.

My front left speaker stopped working completely. Actually, the entire left channel (front and rear) stopped working.

I took apart the amp but couldn't find anything obviously physically wrong.

Oh well, not sure what I'm gonna do now.

I never thought about taking apart the amp. I'll have to try that.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do either. All the speakers and the sub are in perfect condition, so I really don't want to just buy a whole new system. I might peruse the FS/FT forums from time to time to see if anyone's selling just the amp.
