Problem with Kazaa

To preview movies when the Kazaa download program is not up, I asociate the .dat files in the downloads folder to Windows Media Player and the movies usually play fine. Today, I was playing the partially downloaded file while i was loading up kazaa and then I got my problem. Kazaa did not recognize the partially downloaded file that i was playing (it wasn't in the transfers page anymore). How do I get Kazaa to recognize the file again so I can finish the download?

Is the .dat file still in your Kazaa "My Shared Folder" folder? It needs to be in there when Kazaa is loading up.

A thing that I have found is that partially downloaded MPEG files can play but partially downloaded Quicktime and AVI files cannot but I could be wrong.

I think the problem that you encountered was that since Windows Media Player already had the file open, Kazaa was unable to open the file for writing to, so it simply removed it from the list. Perhaps opening kazaa without having Windows Media Player running would help?
