Problem with k7ama AMR modem in windows2k. help!

the k7ama came with an AMR modem, and whenever I try using a different modem, it makes obnoxious bios beeps, and won't boot, so I have to use the AMR modem when I'm using a dialup account. it worked fine in 98. But now I'm using 2k. and when I tried installing the drivers for it, I have to select a port, COM 1 or COM 2, but the modem isn't on a COM port, it's AMR so I have no clue how to fix this. Anyone?

Thanks

Get the latest BIOS and AMR modem drivers from www.ecs.com.tw, and the latest sound engine drivers
from www.ali.com.tw.

That COM port selection thing is for you to pick what COM port the AMR modem will _pretend_ to be on.
Choose one that is _not_ occupied by a physically present COM port.
There's still enough software around that thinks modems are always connected to serial ports ...

regards, Peter
