hi,

http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/product/amd/866asu/866asu.htm - this is my motherboard

the problem is that i can't see the boot screen at all, and the monitor only turns on when u can login to windows, which is windows xp for me.

this problem started when my com just bombed, for no reason, just one of them times when ur browsing the internet and ur com freezes. but when i reset, u here some beeps, think it was four in a row, so i turn of the com open the case and swap a few things out, such as memory. in the end it was the graphics card which was causing the problem, which is a geforce 2 ti, swap it out with a matrox g400 dual head, and thats where this problem starts, i have to wait till the login screen in windows xp to see anything, cant even access the bios menu so i cant upgrade nout, cant even install windows again.

wondering if anyone knew what was going on here, is it the matrox card doing this, the agp port which has gone or just the motherboard.

by the way, the geforce 2 ti is dead, doesnt work in any other com, and any card higher than agp 2x spec wont work in the motherboard.

computer spec is
xp 1800
256mb drr 266
60gb maxtor 7200 rpm 2m cache
was geforce 2 ti, now matrox g400 dual head 16mb
300 watt power supply, think it came with the case, not sure, was along time ago as u can see, (looks like the suspect part now)

and the geforce 2 ti was at normal clock freq, as well as the processer and memory.

oh, and can anyone suggest a cheap replacement motherboard, dont need anything special, something with similar specs to this one. thats if the one i got now cant be fixed.

lol, sorry for this being in the wrong place, didnt see the motheboard area, went stright to chipsets.
