Problem with IP

Hello,

I am having a problem with another forum, the Planetbattlefield Forums. My name there is Waylay11. Well, I am an avid poster there but suddenly today, I received a message saying "banned IP". I know this HAS to be a mistake, for I have never said anything offensive to be banned for. I did hear though that IP's can change regularly, and I may have been assigned the IP of a previos member who was banned. I have also tried contacting the forum admins, but none have responded. So, would manually changing my IP adress do the trick? If so, how do I go about doing that? I have DSL, so I think that my IP is dynamic. I have also heard that by unplugging your equipment for 48 hours, you will receive a new IP. Thanks. (Trust me, I did NOT do anything wrong on those forums, so don't think I'm trying to pull anything off)

Thanks Again

IF you have a router, you might try renewing the lease time and releasing the current IP address. Your ISP might assign a new IP or not.

If not behind a router, you could use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" from the command prompt and see if you receive an updated IP.

If you have a router a release/renew will give you the same IP address you currently have, that is the way DHCP works.
However; if you have a router go into the setup and change the MAC of the WAN port and they renew and you will most likely get a different IP.
But if; the forum is blocking you ISP's range of IP addresses, then you are just SOL
